Cheney has impressive credentials in every respect.
He was the youngest Presidential Chief of Staff
in history as Gerald Ford's Chief of Staff. A distinguished
service in Congress and an excellent job as Secretary of
Defense.

IMO, since we are also supposed to talk about investments
here, he also did an excellent job at Halliburton.
When oil prices tanked to $10, he did all the slimming
down that was necessary, but by acquiring Dresser he also
ensured that Halliburton would be one of the ``big two''
of the oil services sector. The only company that used
this period even better was Transocean Offshore (RIG)
through its merger with the Schlumberger offshore drilling
operations and then Falcon. His performance should
be contrasted with that of the management at Diamond
Offshore that sat on a big wad of cash without
making a move. In other words, Cheney is a fine leader
in war and peace. The Dems have tried to dirty his
business record by making it sound like he did not
earn his stock options, or that any retired politician
could have performed the same job. Wrong on both counts.
I cannot imagine either Clinton or Gore running a Fortune
500 company. Can you?
