You are right, the figures are flipped. More than 80%
(I think the actual figure is closer to 90%) of
US office buildings do *not* have access to fiber.

Even if those numbers were correct, why would that make you lose interest? The equipment market can't really grow without fiber present, and the services market can't really grow without both the fiber and the equipment there.

Hi Mike,

In mid '99, RHK reported that about 7% of commercial buildings in the U.S. had fiber optic communications supplied to the building. So I'm inclined to agree with Bernard's lower figure of about 10% penetration today. The further implication is that a fair amount of the extant fiber is already obsolete. We're really only just beginning the FO buildout.
