Kit, I think he has a point and one reason why I have always recommended either Treasury money funds, govt. funds where the repos take actual collateral, or super prime funds such as Vanguard or Benham (now 20th Century, which raises some caution flags), where they actually do credit research.

I have never been able to get a nice, huggy bear feeling out of diversifying a lot of crappy credits and calling the package a prime credit. So far, it hasn't blown up in anyone's faces, but this is another worry to join the fraudulent derivatives scams. Also prime rated.
