fyo, the skill will be in the selection of the downstream names. Intel chose I II III and 4,(why not IV? maybe it does need IV, it seems very anemic).
Now AMD can do that or make use of assorted modifiers before /after the Athlon.
Not being really up on market-squeak I am vague as to what should be done.
Possibly a running commentary on potential nomenclature?
Now intel is ahead in the digital nomenclature, so should AMD leap to Athlon 5? or 4? Going to 4 makes you a selling match and people will tend to want to compare equals. Comparing an Athlon 2 to a pentium 4 will have people wanting the 4 since 4 is more than 2. Athlon4 versus pentium 4 sounds like more of a match.
As for Ultra, super-duper, etc, sounds too much like hyper marketsqueak to me.

Any suggestions.
