<What with the trees and the lockbox and all he may appear not to understand the delicate balance of the economy. <

Despite what some of the frothing morons have posted and tried to imply I'm hardly a big Al Gore booster. My personal preference would be for the Republicans to keep control of Congress and Dems the Prez. Second preference is the opposite. Any situation where one party controls both is BAD, IMHO.

I really don't know what kind of grasp Al G. has on how delicate the economy is. Best thing that the Clinton admin. has done is make sure that Treasury policy and Fed Reserve policy worked in tandem and not in opposition.

For example, until the pressure on the employment market and out of control consumer spending are reduced the worst thing that could be done would be to have a large tax decrease. This would work exactly against what the Fed has been trying to achieve. It would pump up consumer spending while not reducing the cost of money to corporations. It could easily lead to a further tightening of interest rates.

Duke: As I see it Clinton was just a liar who got away with stuff. Gore is a psychopath who believes his lies are the truth. I am of the opinion that he believes he is the President of the US at this very moment. I am sure he truly thinks he invented the internet. I am sure his college chums would verify this tendency to exalt himself by living in another world from you and I. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. The following might be of interest to you.

On October 3, 1863, Lincoln proclaimed:

"No human counsel hath devised, nor hath any mortal hand worked
out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the most
high God...I do, therefore, invite my fellow citizens in every
part of the United States and those who are sojourning in foreign
lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November
next as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father
who dwelleth in the heavens...[It is] announced in the Holy
Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations are
blessed whose God is the Lord...It has seemed to me fit and
proper that God should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully
acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole
American people."

I guess Abe didn't know how politically incorrect such concepts were. JFD
