<I guess the AMFedayeen won't be crying PAPER LAUNCH any tome soon .... unless they're talking about the 1.2 GigaThumper and 266 MHz DDR chip sets !>

Guess you haven't been to Best Buy lately, huh? Where the 1.4 P4 was pulled off the shelf and the 1.2 G Athlon remains.

Re: Gee...I guess the AMFedayeen won't be crying PAPER LAUNCH

The Athlon 1.2GHZ with DDR memory was available from Micron about a month before P4 was even officially released.

Deal with it - it was as good a launch as Intel has managed in more than a year. That launch served AMD's purpose perfectly, much better than Intel's similar, early coppermine release relative to the Athlon introduction; AMD's release knee-capped P4, making it clear to potential buyers that P4 was junk.

Edit - and it sounds like they had to pull the P4, anyway, so it's a moot point (since P4 is back to "not yet released"). Can't Intel get anything right?
