I don't blame the analysts as much as I do the senior management at the companies they work for.

They may be whores, but they're also young and ignorant of how manias and bear markets come about. Management, OTOH, has seen these kinds of situations before and used their analysts as dupes to manipulate stock prices.

I have to believe that senior management was well aware of how the daytrading influence along with well situated "buy recommendations" from their analysts could cause these stocks to soar.

Prison may yet come for some of these people, once the public has seen a good portion of their 401k's and IRA's disappear.
