Hey, OSX is flat today!!...that's sort of like being up, huh?

By the way, FWIW, I disagree big time with Bowker's view of the sector. There are more powerful and deeper fundamental forces at work than he considers. I suspect his view is shared by lots of folks though...ergo the declines of late.

But in my ever so humble opinion they are all WRONG! Fasten your seat belt for 2001, starting in January. Big Dog's Wild Ride resumes.

007. Our profits are at risk if the "crisis" is declared an emergency,

by a new president.

It would be easy to imagine a scenario where this could occur. To prepare public opinion for government intervention all that's necessary is heavy media coverage of high heating bills and video of children and old people in their homes in heavy coats and wrapped in blankets to keep from freezing in Jan or Feb. The liberal media will predictably spin high monthly heating bills AND the old bogey man, the oil and NG companies and their "windfall profits" as the villain.

Once this political cover is in place the government can impose price controls on NG and heating oil. Remember NG was price controlled for many years and has only been decontrolled in recent years. So there is plenty of precedent for such government action.

This is another very important reason I'm NOT going to be heavy in the patch once the big heating bills start hitting American mail boxes after extended periods of severe cold weather periods of Jan & Feb.

Trust me, as soon as Wall Street smells the first hint of the risk of gov intervention? NG stocks are toast!

In fact, this could be the real reason patch stocks are refusing to follow the huge recent rally in NG prices.

I'm a bull and still am currently long 11 O&G stocks.

But am not going to risk being blindsided with a heavy committment to energy stocks beyond the early weeks of next year.
