I disagree. These are all important issues whether or not George W. gets more votes in the end than Algore. I believe that none of GW's suits should be dropped or stopped merely because the election is over, and the Demo scheme has failed. It is important to establish (re-establish, actually) these principles.

I hate to climb up on my soapbox (since I am non-partisan!) but these are not simply issues of this election, these are issues of principle. I, for one, would not like to find Democrat OR Republican operatives in 2004 or 2008 dusting off this Daley-smudged game plan and trying to take an election in a way which had almost succeeded in 2000. Democracy depends on 1) the rule of law 2) separation of powers and 3) fundamental fairness.
