If you read that article a little more carefully, you will see that the erroneous affidavit was not presented to the Florida Supreme Court at all, because it was not signed until Wednesday, AFTER the Supreme Court ruled. So they were not "lied to and made fools of":

Note that their only mention of the Illinois case is a direct quote from the Illinois court's opinion. (See pp. 34-35.)

I also cannot find any mention of the Illinois case at all in the subsequent Gore petition to the Florida Supreme Court:
