I'm basically a frustrated Republican who thinks fair is fair. The guy with the most votes, wins. Not the guy who more skillfully takes advantage of the idiosyncrasies of the electoral college.

More importantly, let's hope the Republicans see the light next time. A McCain-Powell ticket would have killed Gore, and we could have learned the Florida lesson in our next life.

Did anyone catch the Thanksgiving segment on CNBC about energy? I was surfing around and found Matt Simmons sitting at the table with other energy types, discussing the perfect confluence of oil, NG, electricity, nuclear and coal (shortages in supply in all but the last), discussions of absolute brownouts and blackouts this winter UNLESS we have a much warmer than expected winter (via which we will simply squeak by). It must have been a full 1/2 hour, very interesting and entertaining. Okay, the interlocutor was less than brilliant (Consuelo Mack?), but absolutely par for the course for CNBC.

I poked around the CNBC site a little and didn't immediately find a summary or a transcript--did anyone else see this, or have I been "Gaslight-ed"?

TIA
