Thank-you for posting the explanation of why some people get SETUP to work and others cannot. It's interesting that earlier versions worked differently from later releases. I guess we can spare ourselves the trouble of continuing to flog this issue.

thecow and DAVE, tc - you duplicated Dave's problem, I think. You could NOT start Win98SE install from DOS with the Win 98SE CD.

DAVE, you asked if you should install Win 95 first and then Win 98SE over it. Based on thecow's experience I say: YES.
