chapq: The joke of course is that China is instituting caller pays, yet the US is one of the few - very few - countries in the world which forces both parties to pay.

As a result, many people in the US keep their wireless phones turned off when they are not actually calling out.

If I recall correctly the FCC has postponed hearings on "caller pays" after saying it would permit a trial.

Best.

*The gov't proposal is consumer oriented, therefore good for China and particularly for mobile there* Well, I am one of those perverted people that believes whatever is good for the consumers will eventually be good for Mr.Market, the technology, and the free market system. I guess I better not go look for work at NTT.... The welcome mat put down for competition in the USA wireless world will truly vet the winners from the losers, all on an equal footing of unregulated technology with freely traded spectrum the way things are shaping up. Good thing Q* has the best technology or we would be toast, served alongside T.
