I owned FSTEX for quite a while, it tracks the patch quiet well, and ususally has good stocks. FSTEX did seem to add some value over a raw index by picking smaller companies and avoiding companies like Cononco which don't seem to move much. Shifted to Fido's FSNGX to get more of a gas play & took the hit on the load, paid off. Not sure I would want to do that now.

FSTEX had a big position in Talisman, which some people see as having moral issues wtih their Sudan venture. Talisman has under preformed for its earnings, possible as a result of some investors staying away.

Well known problem with Fidelity's sector funds is they use them for training grounds for new fund managers.

There are at least 3 other enregy funds, I picked FSTEX because it was heavily into medium size domestic E&Ps.
