You're right about the sleeping giant voter, but you have the wrong party.

The true "sleeping giants" on Nov. 7 were all the common working men and common working women, who linked arms with the Hispanic and African-American voters and gave the Gore-Lieberman team a 300,000 vote majority nationwide.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, expected that to happen. We all knew that there would be an anti-Clinton backlash and that states such as Alabama, Kentucky and even Tennessee would vote Republican. But no one expected such a show of support for the Gore-Lieberman team and the Democratic platform to improve the life of the common working man and common working woman.

One point remains crystal clear: The Republicans will have to shift significantly to the center if they wish to try to attract more African-American and Hispanic voters. The country is becoming "less white" every day.
