Frank Re..Well, that explains the stock action today. <g>

As I have been saying for many months, no one cares, at least no one except for people who read and post on these threads.<<<<<<

You can bet that the analysts will care; especially if Intel reports anemic 4q-00 results, and has to report mediocre sales of the P4, and lowered ASPs. Intel needed high sales of a high ASP chip to keep margins up. The P4 has only been out 4 days. Give it time; and tell me people don't care after INTC 4q-00 CC. Yesterday Anand reported AMD had 40% of the high end desktop sales. What happens when AMD gets to 50% or 60%. Who will be roadkill then?

If either AMD or Intel lacked the speed to meet the real-life needs of real people running real computers, I would expect things to be different. <<<<

That has been Intels mantra all of these yr.s; that it paid to pay extra for speed. In fact, that is what the P4 is all about, mhz. Mhz will always matter. But, performance counts just as much. Lets not kid ourselves. Both AMD and Intel need to get extra for their high performance chips. Otherwise all of us should be investing in VIA.

If you believe that is because of something sharkey or tom's hardware has said, you are believing too much of the hype on these sites.

Frank <<

If you don't believe Tom's or Anands, then how about PC World, or how about Winmag. One site dissing the P4 shouldn't cause a lot of concern; All of them dissing the P4 should cause concern. Besides comparing the intros of 1.2 Athlon to P4 is like comparing apples to oranges. The Athlon was just an 7% upgrade to the 1.1 ghz. The P4 is a whole new chip architecture, and it had a 50% speed grade improvement. You should be comparing the intro of the Athlon to the intro of the P4. How many sites praised the K7, how many praised the P4. That should tell you something. Intel announcing yesterday that it will slow down the ramp of P4 because of lack of interest by the OEM's should also tell you something.

Tech Shares Rally on Holiday Buying Spree

dailynews.yahoo.com

Well I guess I am taking part in this. I bought a 1.2Ghz Atlon machine to replace my 200mhz K6 earlier in the week and I just bought yesterday a 1Ghz Athlon to replace a 200mhz Pentium for my son's Christmas present. Maybe if I now would buy one for my wife the Nasdaq will go up even more.
