I'm not sure how much full SSE would help Palomino. It is true that SSE provided P-III with a significant advantage in many benchmarks, but to a large extent this was from the SSE prefetch instructions, not the SIMD instructions. If Palomino does have predictive prefetch, the performance advantage of SSE would be only minor. OTOH, the marketing advantage of SSE could be significant.
