That's right. Booker Noe was Jim Beam's grandson. I generally stay away from anything above 86 proof ... not because I fear the extra potency ... but because I find that the bourbons with less proof are more flavorful. Beam also makes a 100-proof bourbon for general consumption ... has a black label ... but I prefer the standard 80-86 proof.

Maker's Mark around Labor Day announced that it would be doubling capacity at its Loretto grounds. Demand exceeding supply, obviously. I hope the expansion is done tastefully (no pun intended ... I assume it will be). When we toured the distillery I was surprised at how small the place was. And no, I didn't dip my own bottle, although I did buy a MM ballcap to wear to the racetrack.
