Behavior that made me blink in bemusement today:
I thought it took a certain amount of chutzpah for LIeberman to stand up a while ago and, with a straight face, chide the Republicans for trying to use intimidation tactics and call on them to ask the instigators to stop, when a week ago as Jesse moved into town with his band, they said nothing.
The protestors looked very harmless to me- most of them were smiling- I think it will take Republicans a while to shed the good sportsmanship appearance on the street and stop acting like this is a lacrosse match. Democrats know how to do it like it;s serious business.
A cute post by rabid Gore supporter, Flapjack, on the Bush thread commenting on the "mini-riots" :

They were indeed mini-riots! That is exactly what they were! Did you not see the jaws moving up and down on the little alligators on all their golf shirts?

No winners in this election -- good or bad.

I thought they were arrogant and really tacky in insisting that Bush won before the absentee ballots were counted.

As compared to the media declaring Gore the winner in Florida in the early evening (also declaring Bush as the winner also at one point)?..

As for the absentee ballots, they are always counted late in EVERY election. But given historical voting patterns, folks generally know who will carry the largest percentage of votes derived from them.

How many times have you seen a candidate named a winner in a certain state on election night? Well, you darn sure know those absentee ballots haven't all been included yet, right?

After 2-3 electronic recounts that didn't show any major shift towards Gore, and no evidence of fraud, manipulation, or malfunction, I think it was pretty safe for Bush to feel confident in his victory.

Regards,

Ron
