Can anyone point me to the rules with regard to stocks in a self-directed RSP.How can one determine which are eligible as far as Canadian and U.S stocks.TIA

The only certain way I've found is to call my brokerage (TD Waterhouse) and ask if it's on the list of Canadian content stocks.

If they trade on a recognized exchange, ie. toronto, new york nasdaq etc...they are eligible. for them to count as canadian content, they generally have to be Cdn. companies and trade on a canadian exchange and have a head office in the country.

Some over the counter stocks can be problematic...with these you shoud seek the opinion of a brokerage etc.
