Ron, was the market today a "good enough" bang?

Unless this election morass is resolved over the weekend and Gore prevented from pursuing this to the bitter end, I dare say it may prove difficult to decisively penetrate resistance at 3000.

On the other hand, the weekly chart suggests that we may see a rally to 3200, with a necessity to penetrate above in order to reverse the channel and break to the upside. Somehow, I believe this will be difficult and well eventually see a price somewhere around 2400 before we finally receive our year-end/January effect rally. (Btw, I sincerely hope that I'm wrong.. :0)

Point of interest: I heard on the radio this evening that the Warburg-Pincus Japan(?) Fund declared a 55% capital gain distribution, despite the fact that they are down some 45% from their high this year.

How many other mutual funds are in the same boat... or a better question.. How many investors will be facing a double whammy of having to come up with the scratch to pay their taxes on those gains despite the fact their fund is down 50%?

Can anyone say... "major money shift from mutual funds to individual money managers"?

Should be interesting to observe..
