Alibi-Dan - Re: "AMD hasn't any competition for the next year (certainly not from Intel). So they aren't under any pressure to risk rushing starts on a new process"

What ??

What is this.."they aren't under any pressure to risk rushing starts on a new process" ?

Just a few hours ago, AMD was only 7 days away from starting 0.13 micron production - and now they suddenly aren't in any hurry to do this?

Why Danny Boy....what made you change your mind in just a few short hours?

Alibi-Dan - Re: "This time Intel is on the receiving end of that same change in perceived value in the marketplace as 1GHZ becomes the dividing line between a serious computer and a toy."

Well, Intel has three entries - 1.0 GHz Pentium 3 and 1.4 and 1.4 GHz Pentium 4's - in this category.

And AMD has just two - 1.0 and 1.1 GHz ThumperTurds - because their 1.2 GigaHumper is only PAPER VAPOUR.

Now just what effect do you think that will have on AMD ?

Paul
