Hi Skeeter Bug; Re: "Bush won the VAST majority of the country from a geographical standpoint. the cities have more people."

In addition to this being true, it is also significant that if the electoral college had been updated according to the results of the 2000 census, more electoral votes would have been switched to the Republicans, I believe.

In any case, the Republicans will get a slightly better midterm house than otherwise because of the 2000 census. If Gore ends up in office, the Republicans could do pretty good in 2 years. No more excuses for Republicans to be lazy on election day, that's for sure. [By then, the asses will have forgotten all about the 2000 election, but the elephants have longer memories.]

P.S. An article designed to most of the hot buttons of the Republican right, [California, marijuana, AIDS and government medical studies]. Too bad it doesn't have anything about abortion in it:

California county to give marijuana to AIDS patients in medical study

"wiz, i'd double down that wooden nickel that wayne owes me that you live in or near a big urban area. urban and rural areas do not think alike. bush won the VAST majority of the country from a geographical standpoint. the cities have more people."

Damn, you got me! I live in Alaska, a town called X, population less than 500. Haven't eaten meat I bought in a store in years.. I kill it myself, or I don't eat it. Commercial fish for most of my living. All my good friends are hard core Gore haters. 90% of the people in my community voted Bush.

So tell me how does the electorial college help a place like Alaska? Only 3 electorial votes.. Alaskas voice is better heard if the popular vote had been sent..

But, hey you got me! I live 250 miles from that booming metropolis Los Anchorage. I haven't seen a cop in my town in years.. we take care of things ourselves.. works amazingly well.

"urban and rural areas do not think alike.".. gross generalization.. they are true in general, but be careful.. it's a very limited way to look at the world.
