What I would like them to do is to instruct the Fla. Supreme Court to FOLLOW THE LAW. The law in initiated in our legislature NOT in our courts. If Fla's voting laws are poor people should move to change them through their ELECTED officials.

Who could disagree with that?

But what exactly do you think that means to you? I'd bet the Florida Supremes think that they did follow the law. They interpreted laws that were unsound, or at least not sufficiently thorough, as written. The legislature did a poor job. If the Supremes were required to rubber stamp that, there wouldn't be any point of having a judiciary.

I was surprised at the Florida Supreme Court decision. I tend to be respectful of delegated authority and I don't think Harris exceeded it. It's very likely that her decision was based on the best interests of her candidate and that, had the roles been reversed, she would have extended the certification deadline to accommodate her candidate's interest in further counting, and I definitely don't admire that, but I think that either of those actions would have been within the range of her authority. The Florida Supreme Court, IMO, would have been acting within the range of its authority to accept her decision. What they did was definitely on the activist side, but did they exceed their authority? Did they go past interpretation and move into rewriting law? I don't know. They're pretty close to the line, but I don't know if they crossed it.
