Poet, we had a wonderful thanksgiving

Spent it with family -- there were over 40 of us who got together. We had invited a couple of students from overseas who are here with no family in the US and this provided them an opportunity to spend their thanksgiving in a family setting - one was from Finland and the other from Egypt.

One of my cousins came with his family travelling several thousand miles for the occasion; he and his wife - in their early thirties - are physicians and they both are working for a year in one of the developing countries for a pittance helping to establish a hospital in a one of the areas that is medically under-served.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday - one of the few occasions when one celebrates without the commercial element overwhelming the purpose of the celebration.

I have heard others tell me that during these family get togethers there is an undertone of tension between some family members which tends to affect the ambience of the occasion. I must say that within our family this tension seems to be non-existent - or if it is there it is not easily detectable.

Good to hear that you had a fun time!
