Now, to show that you understand the Gore side of the issue, do you think you can state that point of view? I am not asking that you believe it or accept it. But just state it without being condescending, in a way that would make a Gore supporter believe that you understand their side of the argument.

It can be quite difficult to do after you have convinced yourself that you are in the right. However, once we have a new President, a great deal of such moderating behavior will be required.

Whoever wins the election tomorrow has a will have all eyes riveted. A great opportunity to calm the dissension by establishing a common national goal.
Weve had many in the past which brought people together. The opening of Western territories, the New Deal and the CCC. The REA. The Grand Coullee and the Hoover Dam projects. Kennedy's Man on the moon project. The National Highway project.
Merely discussing social security, old age, pensions, debt and taxes is not going to do it.
Reducing Federal government has failed at every turn

Wars could do it but thats going too far and they are
fortunately no longer popular.
Nearly everyone in Seattle worked for Boeing at one time or another, but thats too limited.
Perhaps the Space Program would be the best example
of many people with a common pride and goals.
Becoming a world Peacekeeper seems to lack continuity
Putting a man on Mars has possibilities
If anyone has ideas out there please let the candidates know because I'm fresh out.(G)
