In one word....yes.

cdma2000 will de deployed in few countries compared to the GSM to WCDMA implementations. So the countries where it is likely to be deployed are more likely to be the proponents of such technology. Ericsson has more POPs around the world than any competitor and so the local Ericsson branch always deals with the local customers. No need for cdma/cdma2000 POP in Europe.

Well, my 2 cents worth.

As for that article, I am not at the moment writing it...it was only a thought at the time.
