Dan3, <<<Oracle, Sql Server, and compiled Visual C++, Visual Basic, Borland Delphi, gcc, etc. applications run faster on the 1.2GHZ Athlon than they do on the 1.5GHZ P4.

Often much faster.>>>

I don't believe anyone (publicly acknowledged) on AMD's payroll could make this statement. There is no way possible for you to know sufficiently well enough all the applications that have been developed using these tools to make this definitive statement.

I admit, I am an Intel shareholder and have been one for quite some time. Naturally, the P4 is an important product for Intel, and if it were to fail as miserably as you spend so much time trying to prove, I (and probably a lot more like me) would not be Intel investors.

I can't however fathom, the reason why you would make such an effort to to try to prove something that you can't know that much about.

You are not on the Intel design team with inside knowledge of the rationale, design decisions and tradeoffs that went into the design and developement of the P4. You don't seem to have any in depth knowledge of any application areas where performance of the P4 is crucial to make such definitive judgements.

You don't seem to have any in depth knowledge of the markets that these products are intended.

You do seem to have some degree of technical knowledge, but without knowledge in these other areas, your judgements can not have any credibility.

I can't understand the reasons why you are making such an effort in making the case for the Athlon that I don't beleive even Jerry Sanders can be making.

You are on this thread virtually 24 hours a day and you average almost 20 posts each day. I just can't beleive that you have that much invested in AMD to make this effort that you are making.
