c.horn,

Did you try running your motherboard bare except for the graphic card? What I meant is that you unplug all the peripherals connections such as IDE cables, floppy drives cable, modem PCI/ISA cards, etc. This way, if your card work from a bare motherboard, then you will know which of the other peripherals conflict with your graphic card.

Hope it helps.

Re: I put it all together and cannot get any Video signal. Nothing.. Just a blank screen..

Could be a bad board. I've seen DOA Asus and boxed Intel motherboards, so I'm sure there have been 1 or 2 from Gigabyte as well. But it's more likely that your RAM is bad. Try different memory, and/or try the memory you have in another board. Athlon systems need average memory or better. Very slow RAM (10ns CAS 3 PC100) is a bad choice in an Athlon system.

Regards,

Dan

Are you sure the 1.1G Athlon is not just a mechanical sample? (edit: simple test - if it gloes red when you turn on the power, its not)

I put it all together and cannot get any Video signal.

Whenever I hear a person say he can't get a video signal my first reaction is the memory isn't installed correctly. I say this because I couldn't get a video display on the first 486 system I put together. I finally found that this 486 system was very touchy about how the memory was plugged into its mating socket. After much fiddling I could once in a great while get a good connection and a video display. I don't know if this problem is causing your no video display problem but it is worthwhile checking. Also try plugging your memory into a different socket.

<I have a 1.1gig Athlon TBird that was bundled with an AMD Gigabyte GA-7ZY AGP MotherBoard.>

Where did you get this "bundle"? Why don't you call
those crooks and ask for assistance, instead of
bothering AMD and Gigabyte? They did not sell you
the product, did they?

Second, the GA-7ZY, as listed on the AMD site,
to run at 1100MHz, it
has to have certain modifications, 1.0 ECN:

"ECN:7ZX_APN01 required for A1100
For information or questions regarding ECNs please contact the motherboard vendor."

Since you did not buy the product directly from
Gigabyte, I doubt if you are entitled for the
support. Call your vendor. Try a lower frequency
CPU. Try a POST card to see if you have any power
at all and any Post codes. Try to clear CMOS BIOS
data. Read Usenet groups on Gigabyte boards.
