Implications? This is an ultimate life extender for Rambus IP for the foreseable future (10-30 years). It will allow for precomputed optimization of placement of the information.
You could create with it i.e. "memory by association".
Any signal recognition software/hardware will
need to precompute optimizations to remain competitive. Market? Every device that you can talk to, every device parsing the image, every robot, e.t.c.
Call it a preamble to hardware support for higher level of data organization.
And yes, as you mentioned, transfer of data
in high speed networks is included.
