Hawaii consistently ranks 49th or 50th in national school ratings...despite the fact that our State spends more than any other State in per capita spending per student. Money will never be the answer to "improving" grades. Money cannot buy a great education. The old sayings hold true; you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. No matter how many computers you buy for a school, or how much you pay the teachers, if the students don't apply themselves to learn, nothing is accomplished. Abe Lincoln over came many great obstacles to get an education and he got a great one. He put forth the effort. Today, you have computers, libraries, encyclopedias on CD, and people are graduating that don't know who Abe Lincoln is, or how to spell the name "Abe." This is why democrats get so many votes. There is a large portion of society that is ignorant and lazy. They see the democrat party as the great provider of the government free ride. The giant government milk cow.
