...intent of the voter is unclear.

If it's all the same with you, I'd like a second opinion.

Dear William: Yes, with the RIGHT to vote comes the DUTY to be responsible. To read the instructions and follow them. This whole mess could have been avoided if the Fla. Supreme Court or any court for that matter just said the rules of the election must be followed. I voted here and I can tell you all there is no excuse for any reasonable person to be unable to follow the simple rules which were posted everywhere. And, even if one couldnt follow the rules they had people there to EXPLAIN things. Frankly, having now watched the people trying to decipher the INTENT of the voter I actually feel sorry for them. Its a really difficult task. Can you IMAGIN squinting at these ballots for MANY hours at a time, sitting in a chair and bent over a table. And, in the final analysis, you all gotta admit this is entirely subjective and full of possabilities for mischief either to the ballot itself or in the evaluation process. I suspect that when this is over STRONG rules are going to be written as to WHAT IS A VOTE. No one should have to try and get into the voters mind, that is ridiculous. JDN
