Kevin,
If you read enough of the historical paper, the electoral college is working well...kinda. And it may be working better in the electronic age. It was set up to avoid 'populist' or 'emotional' issues. Elect the electors and give them time to think things through... Which I view as a good thing in the nuclear age. Can you imagine instanteous and emotional results if we had atomic capabilities when Pearl Harbor happened? Tehran? Popular vote...turn them into a hole in the sea....maybe right...maybe wrong....but things needed considered....by people capable of doing considering....

If there is a concern and I think there is...
Why is there such a division between 'population centers' and the 'rest of us'? 80% of the population lives on 20% of the land. Is there room to meet?
