Tom, the job of the Fed is to maintain order in the markets. My bet is that Greenspan has already began the process of opening the money spigot, just as he did prior to y2k. It will take some weeks for the effect to be felt.

Tom, I would agree with Roger that the Fed will start to ease up over the next several months. Even if Greenspan has a preference for Gore, he is a very political animal and he will not be interested in getting off to a difficult start with Bush. I have been plowing through Bob Woodward's "Maestro: Greenspan's Fed and the American Boom" and it turns out that Greenspan is more sensitive to political currents than I would have previously thought. Like most of Woodward's books, "Maestro" has no overriding theme, though it is fascinating to get a glimpse inside Greenspan's mind.

BTW, I have lurked on your thread from day one and and you remain one of the most proficient traders on SI. Thank God you don't have any obvious ego problems like some others who shall remain nameless.

I have been immersed in a major project that should bear some fruit during the latter part of 2001, so I have been mostly in cash since the spring. I am starting to come up for air and I will probably add a thought or two to the thread on occasion. I do miss the days of the easy "back door" plays.
