By the same token, a Bush victory is clearly legitimized by the SC if the decision is 6-3 or better since at least one "liberal" or "quasi liberal" would have supported the Bush side. One last thing, this legitimization process only applies to the fringes of each party. The vast majority of the population would accept as valid ANY decision by the Court. TG

Greg, I'm not a betting man. If I were, I'd have made a small fortune in the last two weeks voting on the sandy foundations of the equity market. But I'll place you one bet here and now. I will bet that the Supreme Court will decide that the intent of the American electorate is the paramount issue in this election battle. Republicans can dissemble all they want about lost military ballots. They've been proven idiots in this contention. They will be proven idiots in their contention that my vote in Oregon is impacted by a fair assessment of what transpired on the east coast of Florida. They will be proven inept at proving as you suggest a Buckley view as to the determination of the court. Why? Because the truth is out there. It can be statistically proven, it can be asserted in a court of law and there is only one venue where it cannot prevail. That is in the dark heart and the dismal soul of the reactionary Right, who have lost the opportunity to cast the U.S. into the mindset of the 15th Century. We will not, and we can not elect a dufus who represents the best of the thinking of one particular sect of opinion in 1534. Frankly, GWB is a dufus, and for any thinking people to assert otherwise is an affront to my intellect. And I'd love to hear them spout off, because at this point in time, my opinion is off with their heads. Anyone who is defending Shrub at this juncture is either lying through their teeth because they see advantage or are simply clueless. It is that simple.
