Gary,

P4 has good potential for software which uses arrays. Arrays are data structures which are accessed sequentially. Many graphics and image processing applications use arrays to store and process data.

Lists are used in programs that have databases. A business which is keeping track of customers, inventories, money, etc., will use list based software. This type of software is problematic for P4, because the instruction flow and data accesses are highly unpredictable.

I doubt that recompiling Microsoft Office for P4 will improve the benchmarks very much.
