Whoever wins. > The Flag is what's primary and the "politics of destruction" from the sweethearts from Arkansas lost total sight of this. < There it is - the residual feelings about Clinton. I believe that may be a very telling statement you just made. This isn't about Clinton, it's about Gore and Bush. The "politics of destruction" as you call it is not unique to any one party:washingtonpost.com How Gore and Bush Rushed in Legal, Political Armies It is still easily dismissed, forgotten, or, for some people, never known at all what the Republicans have done before this election. 1. Failure to properly process motor voter registrations so their status as registered voters was in error or non-existent. 2. "Fixing" thousands of absentee ballot applications which, done without the knowledge of the individuals, is illegal according to Florida statutes. 3. Killed a bill that would have limited military voting. 4. Completed and sent absentee ballots to Republicans but some Democrats had to complain to get theirs. 5. Some duplicate absentee ballots were sent out. 6. Scrambled to change Cheney's state of residence - which is still in dispute. 7. Republican-dominated counties equipped with better voting machines. 8. Some voters were turned away from the polls by the use of, among other things, dogs and the request to provide three (3) forms of ID. 8. The as-reported comment by Jeb Bush that Florida was a "done deal." What does that mean? Why was he so confident in saying that? What else was there that we, the public, may still not know about? It is still easily dismissed, forgotten, or, for some people, never known at all what the Republicans have done since this election. 1. Filed the first lawsuit - which was aimed at stopping the manual recount. A recount which is entirely provided for by the law. 2. Filed a lawsuit against Miami-Dade County to stop a manual recount. 3. Have employed the tactic of continuous legal action to stop or, at the very least, slow the process of manual recount. 4. Katherine Harris 5. Falsely accused the Democrats of being responsible for the "postmark issue" as relates to absentee ballots. 6. Continue their media blitz/spin to twist the facts and spread lies - for examples see #5, as well as Dole's statement that this is a "revote" when those disputed ballots have never been counted at all. 7. Find fault with Democratic activity while doing the same. 8. Make plans to use the Republican-dominated state legislature to certify the state's 25 electors - plans to totally ignore all the peoples' votes. Wonder what else is lurking out there that the public may not be aware of? What the Democrats have done is to request a totally legal manual recount. Following that request, they have been forced to defend that position and respond to the many Republican suits aimed to stop or slow every step of the process. Like it or not, whichever party or candidate a person is for, that is a synopsis of events. Why didn't the Bush side simply let the entirely legal manual recount process be completed? He could have then contested the results. Why? Because he does not want to be in the position of having to contest a possible Gore win. He would rather stop it while he is slimly ahead. Bush is no more interested in having all the votes counted than the man in the moon. He does not want the possible actuality of a Gore lead to exist. Bush is messing with the right of all of us to have a vote. All the rhetoric and lawsuits aside, that's the crux of it.
