Foreigners "amused" at U.S. election
Gore would be hands-down winner, says global poll

Yeah, my Uncle In Law is a Russian trained Chinese engineer. We met at a party last year where there were at least 50 professors of Asian studies in attendance. He talked with my wife the other day, and was surprised to find out that I am for Bush. He thought I was the idealistic type. Guess he got that idea from the perfessors, lol. I am idealistic, but only in the traditional sense. I am not interested in rewriting the DOI or Constitution of the US.

A possible explanation for this empathic international response for Mr. Gore and the Democrat party is that, in many countries around the world, citizens have ceded most of their individual rights and freedoms to a central government and a political elite.

They expect their government to care for them from cradle to grave.
