Hi Zak - thx for the correction, yes, it is HL :). With regard to Bush vs Gore presidency, I think it is quite interesting. Of course, as we stand, the odds is in Gov Bush's favor. So, I truly hope the *uniter* projection is going to work. And indeed, VP Gore has run on a us-versus-them campaign, so, I ve to agree with Mr Cohen the one with the bigger head <VBG> is not necessarily a good President. Why, one of my favorites recent Presidents, as a person, is President Carter, but his Presidency is indeed a toss up. As far as these two are concerned, time will tell. Why they want to preside over a 2001 disaster <VBG> is beyond me <VVBG>!

Anyway, I want to share with you a revelation [actually two] I had this morning while I was munching on poached egg and smoke salmon [I assure you that it was a rare luxury, unless my port is going north in a big way, then I'd say, a round of breakfast for my cyberfriends on SI <G>!]

1st, it occurs to me that this current situation is almost like the cast from the Wizard of Oz! To say the least, they are not in Kansas anymore. Some of the people are w/o brain. Some are still looking for hearts. And let's not forget the voice of the old men behind the mask. Homer, eat your heart out!

2nd, maybe this ballot fight is not so bad after all. I mean, sure, no matter the outcome, that guarantees 50% of disgruntled voters. However, could it be true? American politics has advanced to such a state that "Cult of Personality" is no longer possible? We ve 2 larger than life presidents, President Reagan and President Clinton, in recent years. I mean, one cannot deny their place in contemporary American history, Iran-contra and Impeachment, respectively, notwithstanding. Shouldn't we congratulate ourselves that we ve transcended the worshipping of great compassionate leaders by investing so much passion for two passionless candidates <VBG>?

I guess Mencken is still on my mind :)

best, Bosco
