They'll blame the equipment, but as TV is making clear, these canvassing board jobs are nothing more than political patronage jobs, largely held by Democrats.

On a New York City radio station this morning (1010 AM), one of the counters in Broward gave the impression that votes were being counted which were not punched at all but written on. This probably accounts for the disparity between gains for Gore in various counties. Palm Beach is probably not counting write-ins.

If they're smart, they'll come up with something that makes partisan vote mining a theoretical impossibility.

That presumes they want an impartial system. You will see some talk but very little action. The legit counties will clean up their act a little more. The vote mining counties will act to maintain the status quo.
