Since uncle west mentioned stuff about Gore to support my view, I'll add that it was very unpresidential for Bush to make a personal mockery of Florida's Supreme Court. He should have had the class to say, "We think the decision is wrong. We respect the authority of the Court and we also respect our right to appeal it in a higher court." I'm pleased with the way the courts have essentially let the state's laws and common sense prevail. About the latter, the state Supreme Court took into account critical timing issues that ensure that a vote be certified in time for the electoral college to do its thing. I think the Justices used the law to do as they saw fit to abide by the spirit of Florida law and I also think it's appropriate that it be contested in the federal Supreme Court. I think that because the entire process also is the law. That's why I don't think any of this is "interference." Instead, it's the process our laws set forth. hey nitpicker, ok...you win...inteference may not have been the appropriate word. since i essentially agree with you...i obviously meant to say what you said above. the supreme court is generally the final arbitrator of our constitutional rights. rulings by them should help set standards for the future...hopefully precluding this mess from happening again. now go nitpick your nose. uw
