<<I could go on and on to tear down your straw house but I'm not going to do that. Instead I'm going to offer a solution. First throw out ALL the military ballotsand allow all foreign country ballots regardless of postmark. Then we should do a FIFTH (and in some cases a sixth) hand recount in the three Democrat counties that were selected by Gore. Include all dimpled, pimpled and pregnant ballots regardless of number of such marks as long as just one mark appears on Gore. Keep all the illegal ballots that were cast for Gore by felons, which they are doing at present. By doing these things, we will then be able to determine who the real winner is. I'm sure that this will meet with your approval along with other Democrats. Of course we could run into one problem... Bush still leading... we will then have to call for a SEVENTH hand recount!>>

Richard.
You keep talking about recounts, as if the machine recounts proved anything. The machine counts proved one thing and one thing only, they are grossly inaccurate.

At this point I am willing to settle for the following.

1)Count all overseas ballots, postmarked or not, all counties, provided that the other reasonable legalities are adhered to. Before you complain about the other legalities, I will let you, Richard, make the determination as reasonableness of the other legalities.

2)Manual recount the entire state of Florida

3)Do not count Dimpled ballots at all

4)Count every dangling chad or otherwise pierced ballot

This would be a count the nation could live with.
Would you settle for this?
I believe I am bending over backwards with this proposal.
I doubt that Bush would be for it. I bet Gore would accept this, except posslbly the part about you being the sole judge of rules pertaining to overseas ballots.

You said it was not Gore's place to offer a recount of the entire state. On this WE agree, but why couldn't Bush have just said "Yes this is acceptable to me but we will leave it up to the courts to decide whether or not this is legal under Florida law." He would have looked better in EVERONE's eyes wouldn't he?

He did not say this for one reason and one reason only.
He thought he could lose if it happened. You know it and I know it.

Would you be willing to accept the above proposal as outlined. Yes, or no?

"mishedlo... It's amazing how two people can look at the same painting and see two entirely different paintings and what the artist was trying to convey"

Richard,
That's part of the problem, thinking is hard work and rather than using logic to think it all through, most will listen to the "art critics" so they will know what to think. I don't recall anyone wondering what Reverand Jackson was doing???????

opinionjournal.com

"We must keep our arguments sharp. The other night Alan Colmes challenged Newt Gingrich: Do you really think it fair to charge the Democratic Party with trying to suppress military votes? Mr. Gingrich replied that you can see the Democratic plan in this: They issued a five-page memo on how to knock out military votes, which they assume lean Republican. There was no five-page memo on how to throw out the absentee ballots from Israel, which they assume lean Democratic.

Ever since this exchange I haven't heard anyone ask if the Democrats really mean to be doing what they're doing.

We must accept that the venue of the fight will change and change again. This all may be decided by the Florida Legislature. Or the U.S. Supreme Court. Or in Congress. When venues change you must be nimble.

We must be prepared, and learn all we can, and know all we can, and spread the word.

We must accept too that in spite of being spoofed and put down and accused of being extreme, it is not wrong to fight in this case, it is right. It is not irresponsible--it is the only way of being responsible.

It is wrong to yell "Fire!" for the fun of upsetting your neighbors. It is right to yell "Fire!" when your neighbor's house is in flames."

keep up the good work
