Frank(and justone)- I believe both of you have expressed interest in knowing how the cable plant would be marketed to business users. I happen to notice an ad on TV about Roadrunner having a business package. There is not much listed on the web about what it includes. So I'm going to give them a call Monday and quiz them about what they offer and how much it costs.

If you want me to ask them anything specific, just let me know. I'm very curious as to whether they will allow a business to set up a VPN and guarantee QoS. Or maybe even allow a business to set up a web server.

Interesting idea. Doing a switched-video VDSL number in the MSO plant so the saved bandwidth can be allocated to VOD. -MikeM(From Florida)

Yep, I agree, it's a whole new ball game if you can drastically change the architecture.

But regarding :"..1 GHz analog can yield several Gbps, conservatively."

True enough, somewhere north of 4 Gbps in aggregate, when viewed as the whole enchilada. But the modems at the end user would need hundreds of tuners and demods to be able to stitch this all back together (with the current channel plan) so that an individual could see those rates. Even if you had the ability to change the channel plan to much wider channels, semiconductors are not quite to the point where you could do this with a single channel, so it would still require multiple tuner/demods. Not an inexpensive endpoint.
