I went to law school with one man named "Jurist" and another named "Sales." Needless to say, they received more than their share of professorial attention.

Some judges have had interesting names. There have been several named "Lawless", and a well-known federal judge was named Judge Minor Wisdom. A learned Massachusetts bench once was graced by Judge Feloney. Barefoot Sanders was a federal judge from Louisiana, and I hear he may have been a Native American.

In the courts of Brooklyn many years ago, name change applications were regularly denied by the Honorable Quentin Schmuck.
