Reinhardt has been preaching the benefits of semi-socialized medicine since the early 70s. Read several of his manuscripts, as have many who spent time in pharma. I agree with some of what he has to say, but.... while he's very persuasive and prolific, it's broken clock material again.

What's going on here? On the negative side, anyone selling drugs in the USA has to be prepared for really large premiums, and for boatloads by the true out of control capitalists, the trial lawyers. Pharma's can afford to sell for a lot less in Mexico since they have a WHOLE lot les liability exposure there.

Anyone ever notice how those who trumpet statest solutions and beat up on the meanie pharmas and insurance never deal with one of the key root causes?

What happened to AHP, who never intended their med to me taken in combination wioth a competitor's in an off-label use (Phen Fen (sp?)) and ended up setteling prime time, not out of guilt but the expense of fighting all the suites all over the country before juries with a soft spot for the "victim" and facing a perceived deep pocket defendant.

Unfortunately, the trial lawyers are about the biggest campaign spenders/bribers. Somebody with integrity would address this side of the equasion when dealing with insurance and healthcare reform, but certainly not the China bros - Al & Bill.

I had a 670 LSAT score and a GPA that combined would have gotten me into a top 10 law school. Never ended up attending after I saw how our lawyer and the probate court system were rigged to steal our inheritance. Fired the attorney 1/3 of the way thru and closed the estate myself.

Have also beaten "truth totally optional" lawyers in court pro-se.

On the positive side, we have the most innovation in healthcare due to the financial incentives. Canadians come here for care they can't get there. Lets look at the whole picture before we beat up on the pharma's.
