marginmike - re:CoT

At the CFTC: cftc.gov , rough data, unreadble.
Better at: commitmentsoftraders.com
Barrons Market Lab: interactive.wsj.com

Chart, thanks to LaVerne E. Olney at his site: users.chartertn.net

I am not that excited about last figures as changes in overall positions would not happen overnight. I like Laverne's chart. You'll see years long trends.
So, if the figures are old a week or two, it does not matters to me.

You can also go to bullishreview.com and sign up for a weekly e-mail + pdf with succinct analysis for the COT reports on selected markets. They also provide the data suitable for downloading into charting package. They've been following S&Ps continually, and have been entertaining alternative theories for the extremity of the commercial short position, but have been standing by the traditional (in this case very bearish) analysis: They believe the S&P 500 is in a long-term h&s that has still to break downward. I disagree with their precise rationale if not entirely with their projections.
