Dan, Re: Offhand, I'd say that certain local posters may have prematurely celebrated their personal triumph over spec.

Since Anand said in his original review that he only didn't include SPEC scores because he didn't get Intels newest compiler (5.0) in time I think it's a safe bet that he will do another review shortly. Maybe he will include some more benchmarks then ... a SPEC only review would be a little bit strange.

BTW, I must admit that I was quite impressed with Tom's latest finding. I didn't expect that it was so easy to make a recompile with SSE2 optimization and get an incredibly performance boost of over 300%. Okay, the Flask decoder is a relatively simple program but it's still impressive in my opinion. But I suspect that Flask in its current form is compiled with a extremely outdated (and unoptimized) compiler which could explain the big performance jump with a new compiler, even with Athlon. IMO it's not a good benchmarking tool since it's from a hobby programmer with limited sources.
