There are many votes in Miami Dade (10,700) that have yet to be counted.

The time to count ballots IS OVER!

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Reuters) - Republican George W. Bush (news - web sites) held on to a razor-thin lead in the crucial Florida recount as a court deadline to report the tallies expired on Sunday, opening the way for state officials to declare Bush the winner of the state, subject to yet more legal challenges.

Democrat Al Gore (news - web sites)'s legal advisers said they would contest the result in a Florida state court on Monday on many different legal grounds and the vice president had no plans to concede defeat.

But certification of the Florida result, 19 days after the disputed Nov. 7 presidential election, would be a serious political blow for the vice president, setting an official seal on Bush's apparent victory.

The passing of the 5 p.m. deadline, laid down by the Florida Supreme Court (news - web sites), allowed Florida's Republican Secretary of State Katherine Harris (news - external web site) to certify the result and declare Texas Gov. Bush the winner of the state's key 25 Electoral College (news - web sites) votes and thus of the presidency.

She was expected to do so within hours.

Understand, the deadline for counting is OVER. Bush won
AGAIN.
