Barry... I meant no disrespect. Of course we know that over 2000 years ago there was a a place called Israel and Jews lived there. We do know it was in that region of the world. We learn this from the Old Testament, Torah, etc. Unfortunately there are no county engineers to give us the plot maps. Just like many countries and societies of that period they have disappeared into history. Absorbed into new conquering land grabbers. The Jews were no exception, but they were fortunate because the United Nations created a new Israel for them in 1948 on land that had been occupied by the Palestinians for thousands of years. Yes, we know that Israel was the original homeland of the Jewish people prior the the last diaspora (Jew outside Israel).

As far as being nomads from the days of the Roman Empire until the creation of Israel in 1948, where were the Jews? There is no disrespect in this. It is a fact that they were without a homeland. That is why it was so important for them to have one. But the method of obtaining it on one hand seems fair, on the other unfair. That is why the Jews and Palestinians will never have peace.

Barry, you may want to add that during the whole span of the last three thousand years there was a Jewish population in Israel. In the late 19th century, when massive reimmigration of Jews to Israel started, there were very few "Palestinians" in Palestine. The great majority immigrated in the period 1880 to 1940 (together with Jewish immigration) simply because the development occurring in that part of the world created employment and drew non Jews from as far as Caucasia. A very good chunk of the Arab village Abu Gosh near Jerusalem, trace their origin to immigrants from Caucasia late in the 19th century.

All that said, the current "Palestinians", think of themselves as a nation, and a fair solution to their national aspirations should be found, IMHO.

<<The Jews were residents of that particular part of the world for many centuries before the Romans came along.>>

Yes, and don't forget native americans living here long before 1492.
Maybe we should all go back to Europe and give them back their land.
That would at least solve this Bush-Gore issue.

This Historical right is complete BS.
