When I look at this, I'd say there is a big down from end Aug to where we are, similar in stability to the up trend beginning in Oct 99.

The uptrend of 99 was only broken by a major reversal formation. So we might actually need a major happening to break the down trend? That would mean we stay in the trend channel until we have a reversal day that would need >20% intraday span? Can one assume that a large formation can only be broken by a big event rather than fade away?
